After being bested at Moorpark's Apricot Jam tournament by Area 1P rivals Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades (who placed second and third respectively), and being knocked out of medal contention in that tournament's gold flight, the GU10 All-Stars were eager to experience the sweet taste of victory again at Camarillo's Strawberry Cup.

Following the return of several injured players, the team was at full strength for the first time in five weeks and their renewed energy was evident from the start.  The girls started off strong with wins in their three pool-play games, a 1-0 victory over Culver City, a 6-0 victory over persistent rival Beverly Hills (the Beverly Hills/Santa Monica series is currently tied 2-2), and a 2-1 victory over hometown favorite Camarillo.  However, the championship game pitted them against an always tough Pacific Palisades, who once again proved to be the stronger team.  The All-Stars took home second place in the tournament's top "red" flight, and now have two weeks to prepare for their final "grass" tourney -- the selective Top Gun tournament in Mira Mesa, CA, to be held over Memorial Day Weekend.  Following that, the girls will conclude their spring season at Copa Cabana, the beach soccer tournament here in Santa Monica.
