🗓 Referee Self-Scheduling (InLeague “Dibs” Rules)
🔰 5U & 6U Volunteers
Parents referee their own child’s game — it’s simple, fun, and essential!
✔️ Sign up on the Referee Schedule Signup tab in InLeague
✔️ Wear your yellow ref t-shirt and bring your whistle!
✔️ HOME team must provide a match official. The more volunteer referees you have, the easier it is to spread the load.
🟡 In second half of season: Teams split into “mini-teams” and play two simultaneous games against an opponent — each team provides a ref, so both games are covered.
💬 Want to help? Email rra@ayso20.org to get your Zoom training link and your ref gear.
🔷 7U & 8U Volunteers — Parent Volunteers officiate their own child’s game
- HOME team provides the referee
- One referee is sufficient for 7U (tiny fields!)
- For 8U, ideally we want 1 CR and 2 ARs — full crews make it feel like a real match — but its easy enough to do with just 1 CR (the center referee).
- If no ARs show up, grab 2 parents to act as Club Linespersons and give them a flag. Tell them to help you with who gets the Kick-in (7U) or Throw-In (8U).They’ll love it!
- Sign up to “referee” the game at the Self-Scheduling platform on InLeague.
🛠 Want to get trained and geared up? (Free uniform included!)
7U Parents, reach out to rra@ayso20.org for the 7U Zoom “Volunteer Parent Referee Orientation” dates and link.
8U Parents, go to the “Steps to Become a Referee” page to learn how to get your Regional Referee certification.
🔵 10U Referees — Parents Officiate Their Child’s Game!
HOME team parents are urged to provide the referee crew, which includes a Referee and two Assistant Referees, and they have “dibs” until Monday at 9 am to sign up for that next Saturday’s game. AWAY team parents then have “dibs” to grab one of the slots from Monday 9 am to Tuesday 9 am. After Tuesday at 9 am, the schedule is open to all. If you do not have a player in a particular game, you may not sign up for a slot in that game until Tuesday at 9 am.
