🧑🏫 EXTRA Head & Assistant Coach Requirements
Apply to Coach in the 2025–26 EXTRA Program
The success of the AYSO EXTRA™ Program relies on having talented, experienced, and dedicated coaches. All coaches in the EXTRA program must meet specific qualifications to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for our players.
✅ General Requirements
To be eligible to serve as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach for an EXTRA team, candidates must:
- Be registered as a volunteer in AYSO’s eAYSO system
- Be an AYSO-trained coach, certified to the appropriate level (see below)
- Be Safe Haven-certified
- Be actively involved in the Core Fall program — as a coach, instructor, referee mentor, or in another significant volunteer role approved by the Region
- Be in good standing with Region 20, Area 1P, Section 1, and AYSO National
- Be approved by the EXTRA Coach Selection Committee
- Be evaluated and renewed each membership year
- Submit the official Coach Application Form (see link below)
🎓 Required Coach Certifications
Coaches must have completed — or be in the process of completing — the following certifications before the season begins:

Note: Coaches may apply while still completing certification requirements, but all training must be finalized before the start of the season.
📋 Selection Process & Meeting Requirement
- All applicants must complete the online coach application.
- Selected coaches will be contacted by the Region and/or Area EXTRA Coach Coordinator.
- A mandatory pre-season EXTRA Coach Meeting will be held — attendance is required for all assigned Head and Assistant Coaches.
